I would always suggest to primarily choose dynamic menu module v2 which looks like this on your template:

{module_menu, version="2", menuId="12345678", moduleTemplateGroup="Default"}

change 12345678 to the actual ID of the menu you created via dynamic menu.

Then go to ModuleTemplates > Menu > Default >

there's 3 files in there and try to play around with it until you get your desired output

If you have already done CSS then it should come out as you wanted it right away.
